Description
Clover Flex Thermal Paper Rolls - BPA-Free, American Made, Guaranteed Fit
These rolls are built specifically for the Clover Flex paper compartment. The 36mm diameter fits without forcing, the 1/2-inch core sits flush on the spindle, and the 50-foot length gives you the maximum print capacity the Flex can hold. No trimming, no jamming, no guessing. If you run a restaurant, cafe, food truck, or retail shop on a Clover Flex system, this is the paper that keeps your line moving.
Made in the United States from BPA-free thermal stock. Your staff handles dozens of receipts per shift - this paper is safe for repeated skin contact. The lint-free coating protects your Flex print head from buildup that causes faded prints and premature failure.

▶ How to Load Paper in the Clover Flex
Open the paper cover on the back of the Flex by pulling the release latch. Remove the empty core. Drop the new roll into the compartment with the paper feeding from underneath (toward the screen). Pull a short length of paper past the tear bar. Close the cover until it clicks. Print a test receipt from Settings to confirm the image is clear and not reversed.
▶ Why BPA-Free Matters for Food Service
Thermal paper uses a chemical coating to produce images when heated by the print head. Older thermal papers used BPA (bisphenol A) in this coating. BPA transfers to skin on contact and absorbs quickly - a concern when your staff handles hundreds of receipts per shift. Our paper uses a BPA-free formulation so your team is not repeatedly exposed throughout their workday. This matters most in restaurants, cafes, and food trucks where employees also handle food between transactions.
▶ Why These Rolls Fit Better Than Generic 2 1/4" Paper
Not all 2 1/4-inch paper fits the Clover Flex. The Flex has one of the smallest paper compartments of any POS terminal - the maximum roll diameter is 36mm. Many generic rolls sold as "2 1/4 inch" are wound to 40mm or 45mm diameter and physically will not fit. They either jam the cover, cause paper feed errors, or force you to unwind paper and throw it away. Our rolls are wound to exactly 36mm on a 1/2-inch core - the precise dimensions the Flex requires.
▶ Which Clover Flex Do I Have?
All Clover Flex models use the same paper. Whether your device says K400, C400, C401, C403, C405, C406, or is labeled Flex 2 or Flex 3, the paper compartment is the same size and takes the same 2 1/4-inch x 50-foot roll with a 1/2-inch core. You do not need to identify your specific model to order the correct paper. If it says "Clover Flex" on the device, these rolls fit.
▶ How Many Transactions Per Roll?
A typical receipt with 3-5 line items prints approximately 4-5 inches of paper. At 50 feet (600 inches) per roll, that gives you roughly 120-150 receipts per roll. High-volume locations printing detailed itemized receipts or long modifier lists will get fewer. Quick-service spots with short receipts may get 175+. A 50-roll case covers approximately 6,000-7,500 transactions.
▶ Troubleshooting
Blank receipts: Paper is loaded upside down. Flip the roll so paper feeds from underneath toward the screen.
Paper jams: Roll diameter too large. If you are using paper from another source and it binds, the roll is likely wound larger than 36mm. Switch to correctly sized rolls.
Faded printing: Print head has residue buildup. Clean with an isopropyl alcohol wipe. Lint-free paper like ours reduces this issue but does not eliminate it entirely after thousands of prints.
Red stripe printing: Roll is nearly empty. You have approximately 3-5 feet of paper remaining. Replace soon.
▶ Storage and Handling
Store rolls in a cool, dry location away from direct sunlight. Avoid heat sources, solvents, and plasticizers (PVC binders, plastic wrap). Thermal paper is heat-sensitive by design - storing near a heat source can darken or yellow the paper. Properly stored rolls maintain image quality for 7+ years. Keep rolls in their original packaging until ready to use.
