Thermal paper for the Dejavoo QD4 is 2 1/4 in (58mm) wide, and the roll has to be 40mm across or smaller to fit under the printer cover. These 2 1/4 in (58mm) x 50 ft rolls measure 1.45 in (37mm) on a 1/2 in core. The QD4 prints every card receipt at your register, so the roll you load has to fit the first time. This one does: it drops in, the cover closes, and it prints.

The QD4 printer takes 58mm (2 1/4 in) thermal paper on a roll up to 40mm in diameter.

❌ 2 1/4 in x 85 ft - about 45mm across. The cover will not close.

▶ Loading a New Roll in the Dejavoo QD4

1. Open the printer cover on top of the QD4.
2. Take out the empty core.
3. Set the new roll in so the paper comes off with the shiny thermal side facing you, and pull a few inches past the cover edge.
4. Close the cover until it clicks, tear off the extra paper, and print a test receipt.

Tip: if the paper feeds but the receipt is blank, the roll is in backwards. Turn it over so the shiny side faces you.

▶ How Many Rolls to Order

A standard card receipt is 5 to 6 inches long, so one 50 ft roll prints about 100 to 120 of them. Itemized receipts and merchant copies use more.

• 6 rolls: about 600 to 720 receipts. Enough for a light-volume counter.

• 12 or 18 rolls: 1,200 to 2,160 receipts. Fits most single registers between orders.

• 24 rolls: 2,400 to 2,880 receipts. For a register that runs all day.

• 50-roll case: 5,000 to 6,000 receipts. The lowest cost per roll, and enough to stock several terminals.

▶ Troubleshooting Blank, Faded, or Jammed Receipts

• Paper feeds but prints blank: the roll is backwards. Flip it so the shiny side faces you as it comes off the roll.

• Print is pale or gray: the roll is bond paper, or thermal paper that was stored somewhere hot. The QD4 has no ribbon and prints only on thermal paper.

• Cover will not close: the roll is over 40mm across. Use a 50 ft roll or the 75 ft coreless roll.

• Paper jams: reload the roll, make sure the leading edge is not creased, and check that the print roller is seated in the cover.

Most printing problems on a payment terminal start with the paper: a roll wound too big for the cover, a core that sticks, a coating that prints light. These rolls are made in the United States to one specification, so every roll you order measures and prints the same as the last.

▶ Storage

Heat and sunlight darken thermal paper. Keep spare rolls in the original packaging, away from windows, heaters, and hot stockrooms. At room temperature they print like new for 5 years or more.
