▶ How to Load Paper (4 Simple Steps)

  1. Open the paper cover by pulling the release lever on the front of the printer.
  2. Remove any old roll and place the new roll so paper feeds from underneath.
  3. Pull 3–4 inches of paper past the auto-cutter (SP742) or tear bar (SP712).
  4. Close the cover firmly and press the Feed button to test.

Tip: If prints come out blank, check that the Star RC-700B ink ribbon is installed. If prints are faded, replace the ribbon, the paper is not the issue.

▶ Need Duplicate Copies? Compare Bond vs Carbonless Paper

The Star SP700 series supports three paper types:

Paper Type Copies Roll Length Best For
1-Ply Bond (This product):    1 copy 165 feet ⭐  Kitchen-only orders

▶ SP742 vs SP712 — What's the Difference?

Both models use the exact same 3-inch bond paper and RC-700B ribbon. The only difference is the cutting mechanism:

Feature SP742 SP712
Paper Cutting: Auto-cutter (automatic) Tear bar (manual)
Paper Size: 3" x 165' bond 3" x 165' bond
Ink Ribbon: Star RC-700B Star RC-700B
Connection Variants:    ME, ML, MD, MU ME, ML

Both use the same paper. If you have any SP700 series printer, these rolls fit perfectly.

▶ Troubleshooting — Blank or Faded Prints

⚠️ Important: The Star SP700 series is an impact/dot matrix printer. It requires bond or carbonless paper AND a Star RC-700B ink ribbon.

  • Blank prints? Check that a Star RC-700B ink ribbon is installed. Thermal paper will also feed through blank, make sure you're using bond paper.
  • Faded prints? Replace the Star RC-700B ribbon. The paper does not affect print darkness, only the ribbon condition does.
  • Paper jams? Make sure the roll is seated properly with paper feeding from underneath.

The SP700 does NOT use thermal paper. Thermal paper (shiny/slippery) is for thermal printers like the Star TSP100 or TSP143. Do not interchange them.

▶ About Our American Made Bond Paper

Every roll is manufactured in the USA to strict quality standards. Our 165-foot rolls are 10% longer than the industry-standard 150-foot rolls, that's 750 extra feet per 50-roll case.

Our lint-free bond paper protects your printer's impact head from fiber buildup that causes faded text, streaks, and premature wear. The red end-of-roll warning stripe alerts you before running out mid-service.

We use this paper for our SP700 kitchen printers, I was a little hesitant at first buying paper from these guys, since it was my first time. In the end I was surprised about the quality, and the fast shipping. Definitely get this paper, you will not regret it.
