Specifications

▶ How to Load Paper in Your TLS-350

1. Swing up the printer cover on the console front panel and push the paper feed release lever down.

2. If the take-up spool holds printed reports, pull the spool out and tear the paper off close to the feed roller. Lift out the empty core.

3. Set the new roll in the cradle with the paper coming off the top of the roll toward the print mechanism, and slide the leading edge into the paper feed guide.

4. Push the release lever back up, close the cover, and press PAPER FEED until a few inches of paper come through.

5. Press PRINT on any report to confirm clean output.

Tip: if the console feeds paper but prints nothing, the roll is in backwards. Thermal paper prints on one side only. Flip it and try again.

▶ Troubleshooting: Blank or Faded Reports

• Paper feeds but the page is blank: the roll is loaded backwards. Flip it so the paper comes off the top of the roll.

• Print is gray, patchy, or fading: the console is a thermal printer and needs thermal stock. Plain bond or receipt paper without a thermal coating will not image. Very old or heat-exposed thermal rolls can also print light.

• Printer cover will not close: the roll is too large in diameter for the cradle. Use the 85 ft roll if a longer roll will not seat.

• A red stripe appears down the printouts: that is the end-of-roll warning. Change the roll before the next scheduled report.

Thermal coating reacts to heat, so a roll left on a dashboard or next to a hot compressor can darken before it is ever loaded. Stored properly, these rolls keep for 5 years or more. Load one roll at a time and leave the rest sealed.
