The Epson TM-m30 is a compact cube-style thermal receipt printer designed for POS environments. Its small 5" x 5" x 5" footprint makes it ideal for countertop use in restaurants, retail stores, and cafes. The printer features Ethernet and USB connectivity, an auto-cutter, and drop-in paper loading.

The TM-m30 accepts 3 1/8" (80mm) wide thermal paper with a maximum roll diameter of 83mm. Using the correct roll diameter is critical. Oversized rolls will not fit in the paper compartment and can prevent the cover from closing properly.

Your Epson TM-m30 print head is expensive to replace. Protecting it with quality paper is the cheapest maintenance you can do.

▶ How to Load Paper in the Epson TM-m30

1. Press the cover open button on the top of the printer to release the paper compartment lid.

2. Lift the cover open fully.

3. Remove any empty core or partial roll.

4. Drop the new roll into the compartment with the paper feeding from the bottom (thermal side facing up toward the print head).

5. Pull a small amount of paper past the tear edge and close the cover until it clicks shut.

6. The printer will auto-feed and cut. If the test print is blank, flip the roll over so the thermal side faces the print head.

▶ Troubleshooting

Blank receipts: The roll is loaded with the thermal side facing the wrong direction. Open the cover, flip the roll so the thermal coating faces the print head, and reclose.

Paper not feeding: Make sure the roll is seated properly in the compartment and spins freely. Check for torn paper caught in the auto-cutter. Confirm the cover is fully latched.

Faded or light print: Replace with fresh American-made paper. If the issue continues with new paper, the print head may need cleaning with an Epson-approved cleaning card.

Paper jamming: Do not use rolls wider than 3 1/8" or with a diameter larger than 83mm. Remove any jammed paper gently. Check the auto-cutter blade for paper fragments.

Red indicator printing on receipts: The roll is almost empty. Replace with a new roll. The red section is the last few feet of paper.
