▶ How to Load Paper in Your Square Terminal (4 Simple Steps)

1. Lift the paper compartment cover on the back of your Square Terminal.
2. Remove any old roll and place the new roll with paper feeding from underneath (thermal/shiny side facing up toward the print head).
3. Pull a small amount of paper past the edge of the compartment.
4. Close the cover firmly until it clicks.

Tip: If receipts come out blank, the roll is loaded backwards. Flip it over so the thermal (shiny) side faces the print head.

⚠️ Important: Do NOT use rolls larger than 1.25" diameter. Oversized rolls can damage the paper compartment door.

▶ Troubleshooting — Blank or Faded Receipts

The Square Terminal is a thermal printer. it uses heat to create images on the paper. No ink or ribbon is needed.

• Blank receipts? The roll is loaded backwards. Remove the roll, flip it over so the shiny/thermal side faces up toward the print head, and reload.
• Faded receipts? Check that you're using thermal paper (not bond paper). Bond paper is plain white on both sides — thermal paper has one slightly shiny/coated side.
• Paper door won't close? The roll diameter is too large. Use only 2 1/4" x 50' rolls designed for the Square Terminal.
• Paper jamming? Make sure the paper feeds from underneath the roll and exits over the top toward the screen side.
