▶ How to Load Paper in the Encore 700 S

Open the printer door on the dispenser using the service key. Remove the empty core from the paper spindle. Place the new roll on the spindle with the paper feeding from the bottom (thermal side facing out). Pull a few inches of paper through the printer slot and close the door. Print a test receipt from the CRIND diagnostics menu to confirm proper feed direction. If the receipt prints blank, flip the roll - the thermal coating is on the wrong side.

A typical fuel pump receipt is 6-8 inches long. At 400 feet per roll, you can expect approximately 600-800 receipts per roll depending on your receipt format, whether you print loyalty offers, and how much transaction detail your POS system includes. With 12 rolls per case, a single case can handle 7,200-9,600 transactions before you need to reorder.

▶ Storage Tips for Pump Environments

Thermal paper is sensitive to heat, humidity, and direct sunlight. Store extra rolls in a cool, dry location inside the station - not in the pump cabinet. Rolls stored in pump cabinets during summer heat can develop gray discoloration or reduced print contrast. Keep rolls in the original case until ready to load. Properly stored thermal paper has a shelf life of 5+ years.

▶ Troubleshooting - Blank Receipts, Jams, and Faded Print

Blank receipts: The roll is loaded backward. Remove it, flip it over, and reload with the thermal side facing out. Scratch the paper with a fingernail - the side that turns dark is the thermal (print) side.

Paper jams: Check that the roll diameter is not too large for the printer compartment. Our 400' rolls have a 90.3mm outer diameter which fits the Encore 700 S compartment. Also check for torn paper fragments stuck in the feed mechanism.

Faded print: The print head may need cleaning. Use a print head cleaning pen or isopropyl alcohol on a lint-free cloth. Also check that the paper has not been stored in excessive heat, which degrades the thermal coating.
