If your calculator prints negative numbers or subtotals in red on the paper tape, you need this IR-40T (CP-13). If everything prints in one color, you can use the standard IR-40 (CP-16) instead.

▶ How to Replace the Ink Roller

1. Turn off the calculator
2. Open the ink roller cover - a small hinged door or sliding panel on top near the paper feed
3. Grasp the old roller by its spindle and pull straight up
4. Remove any protective cap from the new roller
5. Insert the new roller with the RED side facing the correct direction (check orientation markings on the cradle)
6. Press down gently until it seats firmly
7. Close the cover
8. Print a test calculation with a negative number to verify both black and red print correctly

No tools required. Takes under 30 seconds. If red and black appear swapped, remove the roller and rotate 180 degrees.

▶ Print Quality and Lifespan

Each dual-color roller uses separate black and red ink zones formulated to produce crisp, clear characters. The inks dry quickly to prevent smudging during high-speed printing. Color separation remains clean throughout the roller's life.

Lifespan depends on usage volume. Daily office use: expect 3-6 months per roller. Heavy accounting volume: 1-3 months. Replace when either color becomes faded or the red begins to appear pink/orange.

▶ Troubleshooting

• Red has faded to pink/orange? The roller is nearing end of life. Replace it.
• Black prints fine but no red? The roller may be misaligned. Remove and reinsert, checking that the red ink zone faces the correct direction.
• Red and black appear in wrong positions? The roller is inserted backwards. Remove it and rotate 180 degrees.
• Ink smearing? Print 10-20 lines to work through excess ink. If it persists, the roller surface may be damaged.
• Roller does not fit? Confirm your calculator uses the IR-40T/CP-13 size. Check the label on your old roller.
• No print output at all? Ensure the roller is fully seated. Remove and reinsert. Confirm protective cap was removed.

Every ink roller includes a 1-year warranty against manufacturing and material defects. If a roller arrives defective or fails prematurely under normal use, contact TerminalDepot for a Return Authorization number. Defective rollers are replaced at no charge after inspection.
