Description
VeriFone Stylus Pen for M424, M425, M440, and M450 - OEM STY379-001-01-A
Whether it is an M440 kiosk taking guest check-ins or M425 lanes running a Saturday rush, the stylus is the first thing customers reach for and the first thing that goes missing. A dangling pen on a torn tether looks bad, and a missing one turns every signature into a smeared fingertip. This is the OEM VeriFone passive stylus, part STY379-001-01-A, the exact pen VeriFone specifies for the M424, M425, M440, and M450. Seat the anchor tab in the holster and the lane is back to normal.
No battery. No pairing. No wiring into the terminal. One part covers all four models, which is exactly why multi-lane operators standardize on it.
Key Features
- ✅ One OEM part, STY379-001-01-A, fits the M424, M425, M440, and M450, so mixed-lane stores stock a single spare
- ✅ Listed by name in VeriFone's own installation guides for all four terminals, so there is no fitment guesswork
- ✅ Rounded dome tip works the capacitive screen cleanly, so signatures come out smooth instead of skipping
- ✅ Attached tether with holster anchor tab keeps the pen at the lane, so it stops walking off with the lunch rush
- ✅ Passive design means nothing to charge, pair, or plug in, so a swap never involves a service call
- ✅ Keeps fingertips off the glass, so the screen stays cleaner between wipe-downs

Note on second-generation terminals: The newer M425-A and M450-A terminals have their own stylus. This stylus is for the standard M425 and M450. The model name, including the -A if present, is printed on the label on the back of the terminal.
▶ Fits Four Terminals, Not Five
VeriFone's installation guides for the M424, M425, M440, and M450 all list this exact part as the stylus for the device. The original M400 is the exception.
✅ M424, M425, M440, M450: this stylus, STY379-001-01-A
❌ M400: uses its own part, STY445-001-01-A. See the VeriFone M400 Stylus Pen.
❌ M425-A and M450-A: the second-generation terminals have their own stylus.
The model name is printed on the label on the back of the terminal. Thirty seconds of checking beats a return trip.
▶ Signs It Is Time for a New Stylus
• The pen is gone and the tether is hanging empty
• The cord is frayed where it meets the barrel or the anchor tab
• The dome tip is cracked or worn and light taps no longer register
• Customers keep signing with a finger because the pen never made it back to the holster
▶ How to Swap It
- Unplug the terminal's power supply.
- Pull the old anchor tab out of the stylus holster and remove the old pen.
- Seat the new anchor tab in the holster and rest the stylus in place.
- Restore power. The stylus needs no setup of any kind.
▶ Troubleshooting
• Light taps missing: wipe the screen with a slightly damp cloth first. Residue on the glass blocks a passive tip more often than the tip fails.
• Screen dark: tap it with the stylus or a finger. Per VeriFone's guides, the display wakes from screen-saver mode on touch.
• Whole screen unresponsive even to fingers: that is a terminal issue, not a stylus issue. Check cables and contact your service provider.
▶ What's Included
One VeriFone passive stylus with attached tether and holster anchor tab. The matching VeriFone M440 Stylus Pen Holder, part PPL379-013-01-A, is sold separately.
▶ Buying for Multiple Lanes?
Because one part number serves the M424, M425, M440, and M450, chains and multi-lane stores keep a few of these on the shelf instead of tracking a different pen per device. Order the quantity you need and every lane gets the same correct part.
