Description
VeriFone VX520 Contactless Thermal Paper Rolls - BPA-Free, American-Made
Your VX520 Contactless handles every tap, dip, and swipe your customers throw at it. The one thing that stops it cold is a dead roll or a jam at the worst possible moment. These 2 1/4 in x 50 ft thermal paper rolls are cut to drop right into the VX520 Contactless paper compartment, feed clean through the print mechanism, and print sharp black receipts from the first transaction to the last.
No ink. No ribbon. No fading mid-shift when your line is six deep. Just consistent, USA-made thermal stock your terminal can run all day.

▶ How to Load Paper in Your VX520 Contactless
- Press the latch on the back of the VX520 and lift the paper cover open.
- Remove any remaining paper or the empty core from the compartment.
- Drop the new roll into the compartment with the paper feeding from underneath (toward the keypad).
- Pull a short length of paper past the tear bar and close the cover until it clicks.
- Press any key to wake the terminal and print a short test receipt.
▶ Which Roll Sizes Fit the VX520 Contactless
The VX520 Contactless paper compartment accepts rolls up to approximately 1.45 in (37mm) in outside diameter with a 1/2 in core.
| ✅ 2 1/4 in x 50 ft (this product): | Correct size - fits the VX520 Contactless |
| ❌ 2 1/4 in x 85 ft: | Too thick - roll diameter exceeds the compartment |
| ❌ 2 1/4 in x 230 ft: | Register-size roll - will not fit any handheld terminal |
| ❌ 3 1/8 in wide: | Too wide - designed for full-size receipt printers, not the VX520 |
▶ Troubleshooting: Blank or Faded Receipts
- Blank receipts: The roll is loaded backwards. Thermal paper only prints on one side. Remove the roll, flip it over, and reload.
- Faded or light printing: Check that you are using thermal paper, not bond paper. Bond paper requires ink or ribbon and will not produce an image in a thermal printer.
- Paper cover will not close: The roll is too thick for the compartment. Use 2 1/4 in x 50 ft rolls only. Longer rolls have a larger outside diameter and will prevent the cover from latching.
▶ Why BPA-Free Matters
Thermal paper uses a heat-activated coating to produce images. Some thermal coatings contain Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical that transfers to skin on contact. Every receipt your staff prints and every receipt your customer takes involves direct skin contact with that coating. These rolls use a BPA-free formulation so you do not have to think about chemical exposure during routine transactions.
▶ Why American-Made Paper
Receipt paper is the cheapest part of your payment setup and the most common reason a terminal stops printing. Inconsistent paper thickness causes jams. Poor coating quality produces faded receipts that customers cannot read. These rolls are manufactured in the United States under consistent quality controls, so the paper feeds the same way every time and prints a clean, legible receipt from the first roll to the last.
▶ Storage and Handling
Thermal paper is sensitive to heat, direct sunlight, and UV exposure. Store rolls in their original packaging in a cool, dry location away from windows and heat sources. Properly stored thermal paper maintains print quality for 5 or more years. Avoid storing rolls in vehicles, near heating vents, or in areas with prolonged fluorescent light exposure.
▶ Compatible Terminals
These 2 1/4 in x 50 ft thermal paper rolls are designed for the VeriFone VX520 Contactless (CTLS) terminal. This is the VX520 model equipped with the contactless NFC reader for tap-to-pay transactions. The standard VX520 (non-contactless) has a larger paper compartment and uses 2 1/4 in x 85 ft rolls instead. Do not use 50 ft rolls in the non-contactless VX520 and do not use 85 ft rolls in the Contactless model.

clearly"" great quality
I have ordered the other brands and I struggled to see the print. I am very happy with the clarity of the thermal print on this paper. To me its worth the difference in price to go with quality! Very Happy Customer.

Paper Rolls
This product is very good. 2 reasons for 4, not 5 stars: 1) sometimes there is no warning that the roll is running out. 2) it’s a bit difficult to start a new roll without wasting some paper.
